Gastown Grand Prix- 2nd Place in a Photo Finish!

Gastown is always a crowd favourite. With most of the team away racing in Tour de Martinique for the men and Sidney in Europe, we took a small group to the line in both races.

19 year olds Vanessa Montrichard and Amaia Ervin Arambarri went to the line with support from Rachel Canning. They pulled off an almost perfect race with Rachel doing due diligence at the front. Vanessa tested her legs  in 2 Prime laps and Amaia gave Vanessa a perfect lead out to 200 meters from the line. The result was a photo finish for the win. The majority of the observers gave Vanessa the win, but sadly they did not have proper photo finish equipment and took the decision from a cell phone picture. I wish she had the title to take home but she accepted the decision like a pro and stood 2nd on the podium!

2024 National Junior Champ Jayden McMullen was our focus for the mens podium. He was perfectly positioned coming out of the last corner but stood to sprint and cramped. Sad for him to be so perfectly in the hunt. But he finished a solid 12th
