ITINERARY

The below is a general outline. Cycleventures reserves the right to make alternations and substitutions to the itinerary as weather or terrain conditions dictate or as necessary to improve the trip quality or to accommodate the comfort, convenience, and well-being of our guests.

  • Arrive at your leisure today and transfer to the Lord Nelson Hotel. Today is up to you, relax, explore Halifax and be sure to build your bike up.

  • Depart from the hotel at 8:30am to transfer 4 hrs. to Margaree Harbour where we’ll set out along the ocean through this beautiful Acadian region to Cheticamp and beyond along the northern coast of Cape Breton Island. This hilly route with sea views at every turn will set the stage for the rides to come! This evening we’ll have a welcome toast to celebrate the adventures ahead.

    Distance: 65km, 836m ascent, 818m descent

  • One of the toughest rides of the trip, today is a challenging day of cycling through Cape Breton Highlands National Park that includes climbing two mountains each of about 430m. Beautiful scenery today with some spectacular descents and sea views.

    Distance: 73km, 1009m ascent, 1000m descent

  • Cycle the scenic coastal route through Wreck Cove and Birch Plain where eagles often soar over spouting whales. Tonight we bed down in Beddeck, a small village on the shores of the beautiful Bras d’Or Lake.

  • After breakfast, we’ll transfer 2hrs 45 mins. to Truro where we’ll ride along the Bay of Fundy’s Minas Basin. For the next three nights, we’ll base out of the town of Wolfville, located in the Annapolis Valley.

    Distance: 124km (or longer route 162km), 596m ascent, 600m descent

  • Today we’ll explore the quiet roads out of this bustling town that reach out to the Bay of Fundy and the villages of Halls Harbour, Baxters Harbour, Blomidon and more. Ride distances are flexible today. Shall we enjoy lobster on the beach for lunch? Tonight we’ll dine on local seafood and an abundance of farm-fresh produce paired with local award-winning wines.

    Distance: 65km, 477m ascent, 442m descent

  • We’ll cycle inland today on quiet roads of the Annapolis Valley to where the scent of salty sea air mixes with farm smells. Many options for ride distances today, from short to long on rolling farm roads.

  • This morning we’ll transfer 1 hr, 20 mins. to Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage site with its original colonial buildings and sites dating back to the 18th century. Today’s ride will take us south along the coast where we’ll take the ferry across the Lahave River to continue on the shoreline roads. Today’s ride has a myriad of options, you can explore small islands and go as far as you wish before returning to Lunenburg.

  • Our final ride is a spectacular one as we head north along the coast on the Lighthouse Route. Stop for a fresh seafood lunch in the village of Chester on route. There are a number of route options today, and we can meet you on the road to transfer riders into Halifax if they wish. This afternoon we’ll pack bikes before heading out for our last night dinner celebrations.
