Road Riders Basic Level of Proficiency

*While we aim to accommodate all cyclists, we want you to be comfortable and safe riding in our groups. Some basic group riding skills are mandatory, and you will develop more with us, but we ask all riders have a basic level of proficiency. All riders should be able to:

• Feel comfortable ROAD riding at a minimum average speed of 25 kilometers per hour, for a distance of 60km

• Ride one handed and be able to signal with right/left hand while maintaining control of your bike

• Ride in a straight line and not deviate while shoulder checking right or left

• Maintain a steady and even riding pace, comfortable drafting behind other riders . Proximity to others will vary with the groups, capability to ride one bike length behind would be a guideline for the less experienced groups

• Anyone without these skills should inquire about a Join the Peloton Introductory clinics –

• New Riders are recommended to complete the North Shore route, before riding other routes

You must have a road bike, and we strongly recommend clipless pedals to ride efficiently with the group. If you have any questions about your current ability and whether our club may be right for you, please contact TaG.
