“From a young age I was drawn to the fascination and thrill of riding a bicycle. My first coach when I was a sprouting little bean was Lesley Tomlinson with the Kids on the Shore mountain bike program.
From there cycling has taken me on a journey that has provided limitless reward to both my mental and physical wellbeing along with a record in the Guinness Book of World Records for the fastest crossing of Canada by a team. While studying at UVic for my bachelor’s in Molecular Biology, I was coached by the National Mountain Bike team coach, Dan Proulx. From his expertise and knowledge I was able to generate the foundation and groundwork to build into a competitive cyclist leading to 2003 when I won the Junior Tour de White Rock criterium.
I also foolishly dipped my feet in the water for a couple years as a competitive triathlete where I had numerous top 3 finishes and a 4th place at the Canadian Junior Duathlon Championships.
Outside of cycling I enjoy anything that is athletic and has a competitive nature to it. I have been seen ripping it up at the local beer miles, skiing, hiking, fishing, and with a new love of surfing – you can ask about the new Zodiac Bat Boat next time you see me.
As a coach at TAG I enjoy the challenge of guiding our clients from any beginner level to achieving the results they are initially looking for, then challenging them again to find new goals to strive for. The sport of cycling pays many dividends to those who are willing to invest their time and devotion to the pedal revolution.”
