JAIME HILL

I began my athletics career at the young age of 9 as an artistic gymnast, where many long hours in the gym, coupled with focus and determination, earned me a spot on the Canadian National Gymnastics team for several consecutive years.

As one of the youngest national team members, I had the opportunity to travel the world and represent Canada at a handful of World Championships, Pan American Games and Commonwealth Games and I was ranked among the top 3 gymnasts in the country. A major back injury had me miss the 1996 Olympics, but I battled back to top form and received a full NCAA gymnastics scholarship to West Virginia University. I went on to earn 3 NCAA All-American awards and graduated with a B.A in International Business.

Shortly after graduating from University I made my way to Whistler, BC where I was introduced to the sport of mountain biking – I immediately fell in love with the sport and the adventures that came along with it. With competition deeply rooted in my blood I started racing downhill a couple years later and since then biking has been an integral part of my life. The opportunity to ride new trails and the simple thrill of pitting myself against the clock and other riders has driven me to hone my skills and share my passion for riding, racing, training and adventuring with those around me.

Hard work and dedication have provided me with the opportunity to race on the World Cup Downhill circuit for the last four years and in 2014 I also set my sights on the new emerging discipline of Enduro racing, which combines the speed of downhill with the fitness aspects of cross-country.
Mountain biking really is a way-of-life and I have found a freedom and thrill with biking that is unmatched to any other sport I’ve tried. The adrenaline of pushing past my limits and exploring new terrain all over the world is what continues to drive my passion today!

Outside of biking I am currently pursuing a Chartered Professional Accounting designation and, since coaching was a big part of my life as a gymnast, I am excited to bring my experiences in the gym to the mountain bike trails and to TaG Cycling!
